BetChecker, by Know Your Tout, checks sports bet slips against the market. This page explains what information BetChecker uses, where it goes, and your choices. The short version: your journal stays on your device, and the free grade never needs an account.
What stays on your device
Your journal, saved slips, the fees you log and any draft you start are saved in your browser or on your phone. They are not sent to us unless you are a Premium member and turn on Premium history (see Premium below). Clearing your browser data, or using "Clear all local data" on the Learn page, deletes them.
When you check a slip
To find the market price, we send the pick and game you typed to Google Gemini, which works out what the bet is, and to The Odds API (the-odds-api.com), which returns the price from Pinnacle (pinnacle.com). BetChecker is not affiliated with Pinnacle or The Odds API. We do not store the text of your pick for this. We do keep a log of each lookup that has no account, IP address or slip text: the sport, the kind of bet, the number on the bet, and the prices (yours and the market's) or why we could not find one. It helps us see which bets we cannot price yet.
If you upload a screenshot, it goes through our server to Google Gemini to be read. We do not save the image. Crop out your name and account number first.
Accounts
You do not need an account to get a grade from BetChecker. On the website, a free account is needed to see the full math. If you sign in, Clerk runs the sign-in for us and processes your email address, and your name if you use Google or Apple sign-in where offered. Signing in does not upload your journal.
Daily note (phone apps and website)
If you choose to get the daily note on iPhone, your phone sends us a push token, a code Apple and Expo (expo.dev) use to reach your phone. We store only that token and the date it was added, with no account, email or location. We use it to send one note a day when the new grades are posted. Expo passes the note to Apple. To stop it, turn off notifications for the app in your phone’s Settings.
On the website, if you choose the daily note, your browser gives us an address at its own push service (Google, Mozilla or Apple, depending on the browser) and two keys it uses to deliver the note. We store those and the date, with no account, email or location, and use them only to send one note a day. To stop it, turn off notifications for this site in your browser settings.
On Android the reminder is set on your phone itself at 9am, your phone’s local time. Nothing about it is sent to us.
Premium
When Premium goes on sale in the app, Apple or Google handles the payment, and RevenueCat, our subscription service, receives your purchase details and your BetChecker account ID so Premium can turn on.
If you have Premium, the single picks you save are stored on our server with your account so we can record the closing price: the pick, the game, the prices, your stake and the result you enter. Report cards you create are readable by anyone who has the link. You can delete your tracked bets and report cards at any time from Account, under Your data, without deleting your account. Deleting a report card makes its link stop working.
Premium history is off until you turn it on in My Journal. When it is on, BetChecker keeps a copy of your journal slips and the fees you log (not your photos) so they follow you to your other devices. Each entry is encrypted on our server with a key made for your account, and that key is itself protected by a master key kept apart from the database and its backups. This protects the stored copy and its backups; people who run the server could still reach the key, so we do not call it private from us. We use it only to show you your own ledger and never share it or sell it. You can download a copy at any time and delete it from BetChecker in My Journal. Deleting your account deletes it too. If Premium ends, syncing pauses; the copy is kept until you delete it, and you can still download it.
Tout responses
If a service submits a response or evidence through BetChecker, we store the submission. Evidence stays private to the person who sent it and our moderators. Approved responses are public.
Premium early access and questions
If you ask for Premium early access, we store your email address and which page you signed up on. We use it only to tell you when Premium opens, and we never sell or share it. To be removed, email info@knowyourtout.com.
If you send a question from the Questions page, we store the question and, if you give it, your email address so we can reply. We may publish good questions on that page without your name or email.
Advertising and cookies
The website counts visits to each page, and the name of the site a visit came from (for example reddit.com), as daily totals. This count uses no cookies and stores nothing about you: no IP address, device or account.
The website (not the app) can use the Reddit Pixel to measure visits that come from our Reddit ads. It loads only if you say yes in the cookie banner. If you say no, or have not answered, it does not load. When it loads, it records that a page was visited and may set a cookie; Reddit processes this under its own privacy policy. We do not send Reddit your slips, picks or journal.
The website (not the app) can also tell AudioGO (Adswizz), the service that places our podcast ads, when a visit to our home page or a tap on our Google Play button follows one of those ads. These requests load only if you say yes in the cookie banner. They send AudioGO your IP address and browser details, and AudioGO may share a matching code with Tapad to connect the visit to the ad; both process this under their own privacy policies. We do not send them your slips, picks or journal.
You can change your answer any time with "Cookie choices" in the footer of the website. Your answer is saved in your browser for 12 months, and then we ask again. If you change a yes to a no, the tool stops loading the next time a page loads.
Some pages on the website may show a labeled ad for a food or delivery company. These ads are images we host. If you click one, you go to the advertiser, which sets its own cookies on its own site. Premium members never see ads. Ads never appear inside a result, and they do not change what BetChecker says about any pick.
BetChecker plans to show ads from Google AdSense on the website; none run yet. When they start, Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can turn off personalized ads at adssettings.google.com, and read how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Before ads start, we will ask visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland for consent to ad cookies. We do not show ads for gambling or betting.
Technical data
Our server briefly uses your IP address to apply daily limits on screenshot reading and price lookups, and keeps routine technical logs for security and to fix problems. We do not sell personal information.
When you check a slip, or pass on a bet the market says loses money, the app adds to anonymous site-wide totals (the number of slips checked, and the amount users recorded passing on) that we show on the Home page. Only daily totals are stored: no account, pick, tout or IP address.
Age
BetChecker is meant for adults. Do not use it if you are under the legal betting age where you live.
Your choices and contact
You can delete your account and Premium data yourself on the Account page (Delete my account). To ask what we hold about you, email info@knowyourtout.com. We will update this page if what we collect changes.
